Experience an indescribable sleeping experience at a height of 2.5m in the middle of the idyllic mountain forest on the Grotzenbüel in Braunwald!

Our tree tent consists of two chambers, one above the other, for up to three people each and offers overnight accommodation for up to six people in total. An island of tranquillity at airy heights, perfect for unwinding and spending unforgettable days in & with nature. Of course, the tree tent can also be booked by 2 people who would like a little more space.

The tree tent at the adventure camp Braunwald is the ideal starting point for numerous outdoor activities such as scenic hikes through meadows and forests, the Dwarf Bartli Trail, climbing on boulders, conquering via ferratas, scooter fun, mountain bike tours and much more.

Visitor's tax
All guests staying overnight in Braunwald must pay visitor's tax. This is a tax based on cantonal law and the respective municipal ordinance.

Adults: CHF 1.90 per person per night
Children (6-16 years): CHF 0.95 per child per night
Children up to 6 years: Free of charge

The visitor's tax is to be paid directly in cash or via Twint on site.

Please fill in the form after your stay and put it together with the total amount in an envelope in the corresponding letterbox in the tipi camp.

Furnishing

♡ Double-storey tree tent for up to 6 people
♡ Shared use of the compost toilet behind the tipi camp site (<2 minutes from the tree tent).
♡ There is a public toilet at the Grotzenbüel mountain station in the first basement.

It has running water and can also be used by guests of the tree tent (approx. 10 minutes walk).
In the low season, the barrier-free toilet on the ground floor of the mountain station can be used. The glass door is often closed in the low season. If this is the case, simply walk towards the "Bähnli" and use the open entrance.

location

Braunwald , the car-free holiday resort in southern Glarnerland between 1200-1900 m above sea level. M. can be reached by a funicular railway from Linthal with connection to the SBB.

 

At the valley station of the Braunwaldbahn (in Linthal) there are enough parking spaces at reasonable rates (CHF 5.-/day, each additional day CHF 3.-). The GPS address of the Braunwaldbahn valley station is Stachelbergstrasse 2, 8783 Linthal. Attention: The Klausen Pass is closed in winter (open from around May to the beginning of November). The SBB railway station is called "Linthal Braunwaldbahn".

The funicular runs from 5:55 a.m. to 11:55 p.m., xx.25 and xx.55 a.m. - from 9 p.m. only at xx.55 p.m.

The glass igloo is located just above the village of Braunwald at about 1300 meters above sea level.

The tree tent is located at 1500 metres above sea level in a loosely wooded alpine landscape between Müllerberg and Grotzenbüel (Google Maps location), not far from our tipi camp site.

The tree tent is about a 10-minute walk from the top station of the Hüttenberg-Grotzenbüel gondola lift (Sportbahnen Braunwald). At the Grotzenbüel mountain station, simply follow the path below the wooden terrace into the forest. After about 600 metres and an 8-minute walk, you will find the tree tent on the right-hand side.

Arrival- Departure

Check-in is possible from 1 p.m
After booking, you will receive a detailed fact sheet by email with important information and the number code for your overnight stay in the glass igloo.

Check-out is by 11:00 a.m. at the latest
We ask you to leave the accommodation as you would like to find it.

The journey from Linthal to Braunwald is by funicular.
(Braunwald can be reached on foot from Linthal in 1½ to 2 hours. However, the path is quite steep, so we recommend arriving by funicular.)

From Braunwald you have the following options to get to the glass igloo:

Arrival on foot
From Braunwald, a slightly uphill path takes you to the glass igloo in about 30 minutes. 

Arrival by carriage
If you reserve in advance, a horse-drawn carriage is available from Braunwald, which will take you directly to the glass igloo. As an additional option, the carriage ride can be booked with a regional aperitif. If you are interested, please early
  inquire/book .

Arrival by taxi
If you reserve in advance, a taxi is available from Braunwald, which will take you comfortably to the glass igloo. If you wish to travel by taxi, please contact the transport company Schuler-Transporte in good time ( www.schuler-transporte.ch ).

The glass igloo is also easily accessible by (e-)bike. Bikes can be transported free of charge on the Braunwaldbahn and the Braunwald sports railways. In Braunwald it is possible to rent e-mountain bikes.

There are various restaurants in Braunwald. Particularly recommended is the restaurant of the "Hotel Tödiblick", which can be reached by a leisurely 10-minute walk.

Please note: Even in summer there can be cold nights. If you would like to bring your own sleeping bag, please check the recommended temperature range (comfort zone) of your sleeping bag before arrival. Free tip: Warm socks and a hat or headband to sleep in work wonders!

Please note that you will be at about 1300 metres above sea level and it can get chilly at all times of the year. The weather can change quickly in the mountains and thunderstorms can occasionally occur. We therefore recommend that you pack an extra jumper and pair of warm socks.

frequently asked Questions

Is there shopping on site?
Braunwald has a village shop and the Schwettiberg shop. Information on opening hours can be found here and here. The opening hours are very limited, both shops are closed on Sunday! The shops are about 25-30 minutes walk from the glass igloo.
Due to the situation, we recommend bringing the necessary groceries from the valley.

 

What about sanitary facilities?
There are public toilets at the mountain station of the Braunwaldbahn. There is a mobile toilet cabin on the premises of the glass igloo. Toilet paper is of course available on site.
A simple washing facility for washing hands with soap is available (no drinking water). Towels are also available on site.

What activities are there in the vicinity?
Braunwald offers many different options for young and old.
The adventure camp Braunwald is the ideal starting point for numerous outdoor activities such as scenic hikes through meadows and forests, climbing on boulders, conquering via ferrata, scooter fun, mountain bike tours, snowshoe hikes in the midst of imposing mountains, tobogganing fun and much more.

How can I check in?
After booking, you will receive a detailed fact sheet with important information and the numerical code for your overnight stay in the glass igloo by e-mail. There is no reception on site. Therefore, please read our fact sheet carefully before arrival. With the number code it contains, you can move into the glass igloo from 4:00 p.m.
